Casa extremamente agradável, bem estimada, com gosto, numa aldeia tipicamente duriense. Tínhamos a casa preparada a tempo, com todas as comodidades descritas aquando da reserva. O relacionamento e comunicação com o proprietário foi excelente, mostrando sempre muita atenção e disponibilidade para resolver algum tema e dar sugestões sobre a região. A piscina exterior é muito boa, de grandes dimensões, sem sombras até o sol se pôr e rodeada de um jardim muitíssimo bem cuidado. Recomendo vivamente a Casa do Castedo.

La maison est splendide. Le village est un havre de paix. Joao est une personne très attentionné. Il répond a toutes vos questions de manière précise et réactive. Il vous conseille sur des sorties et des restaurants aux alentours, et ces conseils sont excellents. Un sejour et un hôte parfait!

We spent a lovely family weekend at Casa Castedo do Douro. We were welcomed by the lovely Paula who showed us around the property and explained all the bits and bobs. This is a traditional Portuguese house with creeky floorboards, traditional decoration and a lovely vintage feel to it. João, the owner, was always in contact with us via WhatsApp and answered every query we had and even gave us brilliant suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing spots 🙂 The weekend we stayed over coincided with the village festivities and the streets and church were decorated and we had lunch outside with traditional Portuguese music playing in the background.

Casa Castedo do Douro is simply perfect. Set in a stunning, rural location, it was the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of working life and catch up with good friends. The location. The cleanliness. The rustic charm. The swimming pool (simply beautiful). And the owner, who couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. We are already planning our return next year!!

- We spent two restful weeks at Casa Castedo do Douro. Joào was great in providing all required information; prior to booking, directions to the property, information on the local area and restaurant recommendations such as Restaurante Pizzeria Margherita and Cepa Torta in Alijo. Restaurante Veladouro in Pinhaò was also very good but gets busy. We spent a lot of our time relaxing at the house, making use of the cool basement and refreshing pool but also visited the local areas and further afield to Oporto by train from Tua nearby and took the children to Natur Water Park, Vila Real followed by a visit on our return to Castedo to Quinta do Portal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this rural retreat. Thank you Joào for letting us stay in your lovely house and for sharing some of your port.

Ønsker du at opleve det autentiske Portugal, så er denne bolig lige noget for dig. Du bor midt imellem de lokale i en brostensbelagt bjerglandsby, og uanset hvor du befinder dig, har du den smukkeste udsigt ud over dalen. Huset er gammelt på den charmerende måde, og har du brug for varme, så tænder du op i pejsen med gamle vinstokke. João er en fantastisk vært, og i modtages med et glas udsøgt portvin, der stammer fra det år, han blev født. Han er godt til at informere og anbefale lokale ting, og har desuden det hele som skriftlig information med adresser osv. Vi kan kun varmt anbefale dette udsøgte hus og João, og vi glæder os til at vende tilbage.

Joao met us at the property on arrival and showed us round and told us some of the history of the house. Joao also gave us lots of ideas for the best excursions and places to visit. Fresh bread was delivered each morning and there was always a plentiful supply of ham and cheese as well as juice and coffee for breakfast. The house is very spacious and the grounds are vast with gorgeous views of vineyards from the terrace. The kids loved the cool den downstairs with the pool table when they made it out of the large swimming pool. The table tennis was also great for entertaining the teenagers. My husband hired a bike for the week and Joao took delivery of it for us the week before and advisied on all the best routes. Anyone who enjoys hilly cycling with amazing views would love the Douro valley. I can’t recommend the house or Joao highly enough!

Wir haben 8 unvergesslich schöne Tage mit der ganzen Familie verbracht. Das Haus ist mit Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet, in jeder Ecke gibt es wieder etwas neues zu entdecken. Der Pool und der grosse Garten wurde von den Kids (und natürlich auch von den Erwachsenen) ausgiebig genossen. João (der Gastgeber) hat uns herzlich empfangen und ist sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Wir können einen Aufenthalt hier nur empfehlen.

Joao is an excellent host. He communicated extremely well and gave us so much wonderful information about the Douro region and activities we could do. He met us on our arrival with a tasting of the delicious family port and farewelled us on our departure. The home was very spacious and exquisitely decorated with antiques and family heirlooms in every room, but also the modern conveniences necessary for a very comfortable stay. The gardens and pool area were gorgeous and we used them several times a day. We were supplied with delicious local bread daily along with ham, cheese, juice and milk for our entire stay. We were very sad to leave and recommend very highly this beautiful home if you want a luxury stay in the Douro valley. The best airbnb home we have ever stayed in and the best host.

“Perfect Rural Villa“

A group of 8 of us stayed here for 4 nights recently. It’s an excellent, well kept property, with plenty of space. The pool area was well used and is beautiful. The BBQ is great for everyday use – we cooked on there everyday, and ate outside everyday on the roof terrace. The underground “games” room is great for chilling out at the end of everyday, and for cooling down as it stays so much cooler than the rest of the bar. Great place for exploring the Douro. The drive down to Pinhao is short, if a little scary. Supermarket isn’t far away for everything you’ll need. And if you’re brave, there’s even a little local bar for a cheap bottle of Superbock beer. And a short walk up behind the property gives a great view of the Douro and the valley. Can not recommend this property enough.

Had the chance to stay at this great traditional Douro house for a couple of nights. Our host João was outstanding and went out of his way to make sure all of our questions and needs were attended. Joao included some local traits which made my friends and I a delight.
The house maintains the traditional traits while providing all the modern amenities.
A great pool with a barbecue and a deck.
I look forward to staying there again.

We recently stayed at Casa Do Castedo and the experience was fantastic. Joao the owner is extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. He’s done a great job at preserving the property’s original features and history which adds to its charm. It is spacious, clean and very well presented with a beautiful garden and pool.
I highly recommend this place if you are looking to travel the Douro Region.

Bonjour. Notre séjour s’est très bien passé. Notre hôte nous a fait un accueil très sympathique, nous a orienté sur les activités et visites a faire. La maison et la piscine sont très agréable, ainsi que le jardin. La zone ombragé sous les vignes est parfaite pour déjeuner, les aperitifs se passent au niveau du patio en fin de journée. La région et les portugais sont vraiment très accueillants et sympathiques.
